Man Batters Sex Worker For Rejecting N200

A 24-year old man, Wasiu Salami has been arrested and charged before Apapa Magistrates' court in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria for allegedly battering a sex worker in a hotel for refusing to offer him sex for N200.
He is now facing a one count charge of assault against the victim before the presiding Magistrate Mrs A. K. Shonubi.
Salami, who was remanded in custody, allegedly assaulted Aishat Clement at Golden Gate Hotel, Ojo Road, Ajegunle, Lagos because she refused the N200 he offered her.
P.M.NEWS gathered from Salami that he was a regular customer to Aishat and was shocked she refused his request.
He said he didn't have enough money that night and pleaded with her to accept the offer, only for her to abuse him.
He said that he did not injure her in the mouth, explaining that it was during the scuffle that she sustained injury.
The angry Aishat wondered why he should demand for sex for that amount. She explained that a short time sex cost between N500 and N1000, while it costs between N2000 and N3000 to have sex throughout the night.
She said she asked him to go and bring her sister to do the business and charge N200 if it was so easy. He became annoyed and beat her and injured her in the mouth.
Salami was held by the hotel management and handed over to the police at Ajeromi Station.
He was charged to court for assault under section 170 of the criminal code Law of Lagos State 2011.He pleaded not guilty. He was granted bail in the sum of N10, 000 with one surety in like sum.
The matter was adjourned till 16 April for mentioning, while he was remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri pending when he fulfills his bail conditions.
