US singer and recording artiste Jennifer Lopez has topped the Forbes annual celebrity 100 list for 2012 -pushing pop singer Lady Gaga who claimed the title in 2011 to fifth place.
The list which was released yesterday, Wednesday, May 17, 2012 shows 42-year-old Lopez sitting at the top of the list with her $52 million worth of earnings over the past year. Being the highest-paid Latin actress in Hollywood, Lopez over the years has been able to transform herself from being just an artiste to a big brand – owning 18 different fragrances, a fashion line, working as a judge on American Idol and having a string of endorsements.
Following Lopez closely is TV host Oprah Winfrey, who brought in a whopping $165 million in the past year. Oprah might have ended her self-titled talk show last year but has continued make headlines despite her OWN cable network facing hard times.
18-year-old pop star Justin Beiber lands at number 3 after bagging $55 million in the last year. The singer released his second album ‘Under the Mistletoe’ in November 2011.
Bajan singer Rihanna comes in at fourth place. Other stars making the celebrity list include first timers Kim Kardashian (No. 7, with $18 million), younger sister Khloe Kardashian (No. 73, with $11 million) and Ashton Kutcher.
