It's official: Jessica Simpson is a mom! The singer and her fiance Eric Johnson welcomed a baby girl named Maxwell Drew Johnson on May 1,
Maxwell Drew was born in Los Angeles Tuesday morning and weighed in at 9 lb. 13 ounces.
"We are so grateful for all the love, support and prayers we have received. This is been the greatest experience of our lives," the singer posted on her website Tuesday, announcing the birth of the baby Maxwell.
This is the first child for the couple, who began dating in summer 2010 and announced their engagement in November 2010.
Though they've been engaged over a year, the wedding hasn't happened just yet. Simpson and her husband-to-be put their wedding plans on the back for now, especially after it was fairly obvious that Simpson was pregnant last fall.
"I can't wait to have more kids,"she said in November. "I love being pregnant. I have such an incredible connection with myself and with my body that I've never had before."
That was pretty evident when she posed nude -- and very pregnant --on the cover of Elle's April Issue, and revealed she and Johnson were expecting a baby girl.
