Ex-President Obasanjo’s Hilltop Mansion gutted by fire
A section of ex-president Obasanjo's hilltop mansion in Abeokuta, which
was used as an office, was gutted by fire yesterday Thursday December
27th.
The fire started around 4pm yesterday, OBJ Wasnt home, but his
wife, children and grandchildren were home. They were quickly evacuated
from the building. The inferno, which destroyed computers, office
appliances and furniture, was said to have have been caused by an
electrical fault.
Kogi State Governor involved in auto crash, Caulaty Recorded
Captain Idris Wada, The Governor of Kogi State and his aides were
involved in a fatal car accident this afternoon along the bad Abuja -
Lokoja expressway. His ADC and driver died instantly while the governor
was rushed to the Emergency Ward of the Kogi
State Specialist Hospital in Lokoja.

US President Barack Obama has been named Time Magazine‘s ‘Person of the Year’.
Managing editor Richard Stengel who unveiled the respected magazine’s choice on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 said it was ‘remarkable that the president won two terms with over 50 percent of the popular vote as a Democrat. He also noted that Obama took office in an economic crisis, and credited him with ‘creating a new political alignment like Ronald Reagan did forty years ago’.
This is the second time that Obama has been chosen by Time.

Ploice disqualify SSCE, Third Class Holders from joining the force
Police Service Commission says holders of Secondary School Certificate would no longer be accepted into the Nigeria Police Force as constables.
It said the minimum entry requirement now was Ordinary National Diploma.
The commission also stated that Third Class degree holders were no longer accepted as Cadet Inspectors, in line with the reform in the force.
PSC Commissioner and Chairman, Public Affairs Committee of the commission, Ms. Comfort Obi, who stated this at a news conference in Abuja on Monday, explained that the commission had reviewed the recruitment process into the police.
According to her, the PSC has over the years formulated policies aimed at the efficiency and discipline of the police force, adding that background checks are now carried out on applicants to separate bad eggs and discourage people of shady characters from joining the police.
Obi stated that polygraph tests were also carried out on applicants to determine drug users, alcoholics and liars that could tarnish the image of the force.
She said, “The mechanism put in place by the commission is in line with police regulations to ensure that bad eggs don’t find their way into the force. We are focusing on the recruitment process and have raised the minimum entry requirements.
“SSCE holders can no longer join the police as constables; even a third class degree holder cannot join the Cadet Inspector cadre. The minimum qualification for a constable is OND and it must include six credit passes in SSCE including Credit pass in English and Mathematics.”
The PSC Commissioner in charge of Strategy, Dr. Otive Igbuzor, explained that written examinations had been introduced for applicants, adding that promotions in the force were based on merit.
He explained that 599 cases of indiscipline were treated between 2008 and 2011. He said 94 officers were compulsorily retired, and a number of others were sanctioned for various offences.

Cross River's Gov Imoke undergoes treatment for chronic kidney disease in the US
“Liyel Imoke’s kidneys are in bad condition and he’s undergoing regular dialyses,” said one of our sources.Another source said the governor maybe undergoing surgery for kidney transplant since he has remained unreachable in the last 48 hours.
One of our sources said that the ailing governor “has no immediate plans to return to Calabar,” the capital of Cross River State.

Recap: 3days after the Succesful Kidnap of Kanene Okonjo!!
It’s been three days since the kidnap of Prof. Kanene Okonjo, mother of Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Dr.Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and media reports have said that negotiations have begun with the kidnappers.
The kidnappers demanded $1 billion ransom for her release, they have however reduced the ransome to N200 million
Security sources said Onyema who's th mama's Eldest son , however, insisted on speaking with his mother to ascertain the state of her health and to be sure that he was not dealing with impostors before he could negotiate with the abductors.
After he had spoken with his mother, whom sources said was alive and well despite the trauma, the kidnappers changed their demand by asking Okonjo-Iweala to bring the money the Federal Government had recovered from oil marketers who had abused the fuel subsidy scheme
The 82 year-old woman was abducted on Sunday 9th December 2012, at the gate of the palace of the traditional ruler of Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, Prof. Chukwuka Okonjo, who is her husband.
We only hope and pray the aged woman is released soon and in good health too.

New Music Act Tiwa Banks brutally stabbed by her landlord's son
According to sources Tiwa was attacked last night in her apartment at Alimosho area in Lagos by Tobi after they had a misunderstanding earlier in the day. They said he broke a bottle on her head then stabbed her.
Tobi has however been arrested and held at Moshalashi Police station.
