Police Inspector killed by suspected Boko Haram members

A yet to be identified police inspector has been shot dead by suspected members of the Boko Haram sect while shopping  at the Gamboru market in Miaduguri on Wednesday.
A group of teenagers disguised as shopping in the market shot the officer according to eyewitness accounts.
“The whole thing happened in a very short time. Apparently, the gunmen had trailed the inspector to the market after he left his office around 3.30 p.m.
“Unknown to him, the boys were following him closely until they got to a shop by the corner where it was convenient for them to shoot him,” one of the traders, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.
He added that the attackers fired close shots at the victim before dispersing in different directions to escape arrest.
Spokesman of the Borno State Police Command, Mr Samuel Tizhe, confirmed the killing, saying that the police had already launched investigation into the issue.
Tizhe also confirmed the killing of two civilians on Tuesday near the Premier Cinema, Maiduguri, saying that the police was also investigating the case.
