Nigeria Copyright Commission Seize 7 Containers of Pirated Books

The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) in collaboration with Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) recently impounded seven containers loaded with suspected pirated books imported from China containing about 10,000 cartons of books estimated at over N1.5b, with titles largely belonging to Learn Africa PLC (formerly Longman Nigeria PLC).

We are doing this raid aggressively in fulfillment of our watch word which is zero tolerance to piracy. We had since 18 months ago arrested about 145 suspects and attained the removal of over 7 million units of assorted pirated copyright works, comprising of books, software, DVDs, CDs, amongst others’, Director General of NCC, Afam Ezekudo said.
